Tofas Akademi is the training and human resources portal serving the dealer network of Tofas Otomobil Fabrikalari A.S. Developed by Creamobile, the system brings classroom training, distance learning, competency management and HR processes onto a single platform, served at portal.tofasakademi.com.tr.
Context
Tofas Akademi was established in 2010 as the corporate academy of the automotive manufacturer Tofas. Over time it grew from a training department into a competency management platform covering the entire dealer network.
Training management in an automotive dealer network differs from ordinary corporate training in two ways. First, the people being trained are not the manufacturer's own employees but staff of independent dealers. Second, part of the technical training is mandatory under brand standards and must be documented. Together these constraints create requirements that an off-the-shelf learning management system struggles to meet.
The solution: a dealer HR and training portal
Creamobile built the following processes into a single portal for Tofas Akademi:
- Classroom training management — scheduling face-to-face sessions and tracking attendance and completion
- Distance learning — online course delivery and progress tracking
- Virtual classroom — live sessions, with content structured by section
- Competency management — role-based competency definitions and tracking of gaps
- Human resources — HR processes for dealer staff run from the same portal
Exempt and equivalent training
Experienced staff across the dealer network were repeatedly assigned courses whose content they already knew. The exempt and equivalent training definition solved this: staff who have completed a course recognised as equivalent are exempted from the matching course. This saves experienced employees time without breaking the integrity of training records.
zekky: an AI module that recommends training
zekky was developed as a module inside Tofas Akademi. It evaluates a dealer employee's current training status and their aptitude for a given type of training, then produces a personalised training recommendation. Assignment can therefore follow an individual's history rather than sending the same list to everyone.
Independent validation: the ATD Best award
Tofas Akademi received the Association for Talent Development (ATD) Best award, regarded as one of the most prestigious recognitions in learning and development. The platform was therefore assessed not only technically but as a training programme, by an external body.
2018: interface renewal
The portal was relaunched in 2018 with a refreshed interface and user-friendly features — evidence that this is a multi-year product relationship rather than a one-off delivery.
2026: the Stellantis merger and 7 brands
Following the merger of Tofas with Stellantis in Turkey in 2026, the scope of dealer training management expanded. Today 7 brands use the same LMS portal built by Creamobile for dealer training management.
For a platform this is not ordinary growth: different brand standards, different sets of mandatory training and different dealer networks all have to be managed on one infrastructure while staying separated from one another. Meeting that in a single system reflects a design intended for a multi-brand structure from the outset.
Why custom development rather than an off-the-shelf LMS
Packaged learning management systems are adequate for course delivery and progress tracking. What sets Tofas Akademi apart is that training management is interwoven with dealer HR processes and a competency model. Exemption rules, brand-level separation and competency matching fall outside the configuration limits of a packaged product.
